From Msgr. George Ryan, Pastor
Dear Parishioners,
As Summer winds down I want to report on the Summer Program the Parish sponsored—CELEBRATE SUMMER 2008. It was a grand success. It ran for eight weeks. There were 206 children registered. Unfortunately, we had to cut off registration near the opening of the program so the schedules of teachers and counselors could be settled.
I am so grateful to the Co-Directors, Mrs. Janine Kramer and Ms. Kelly Larkin. They were terrific from the registrations in the Spring until the cleanup at the end. Everything was so organized that there were no mishaps the entire summer. This being the first time for the program shows all the work they did behind the scenes. Their daily enthusiasm and concern for the children was inspiring to all. I thank them in the name of all the Parish. Moreover they recruited a great staff who were zealous in making the program provide a great time for the children. So a word of special appreciation to the teachers, counselors, volunteers, seminarians who took registration each day, kitchen staff and maintenance staff. The program was a success because of all your cooperation and goodwill. Here are some letters we received. First, from a camper: Thank you for making my summer so much fun! I appreciate all of your attention and support—this was the best camp ever!
From parents: My children were fortunate to have attended the camp program for three weeks this summer. My children had a fabulous time and could not wait to get up the next morning for another day of fun. The counselors and aids went above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate the children. The love and care my children received was outstanding. I would also like to commend you on the security measures to keep the children safe. It was reassuring that the children were safe.
Thank you for a fun, safe place to go this summer. My children enjoyed going to camp every day. We loved the caring people and flexible schedule. We hope to return again next year!
I also must add that the children gave the Parish Staff much enjoyment as we watched them play water games and sprinkler play on the lawn opposite from the Rectory. It was a blessing to see children have fun.
God continues to smile on our Parish!
