Epiphany of the Lord
487284172_7229a4d025_m.jpgWhen Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage.” When King Herod heard this, he was greatly troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. Assembling all the chief priests and the scribes of the people, He inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it has been written through the prophet: And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; since from you shall come a ruler, who is to shepherd my people Israel.” Then Herod called the magi secretly and ascertained from them the time of the star’s appearance. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search diligently for the child. When you have found him, bring me word, that I too may go and do him homage.” After their audience with the king they set out. And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where the child was. They were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their country by another way. Matthew 2:1-12

Thank You!

thanksfromfrchris.pngOn behalf of my Father and the entire family, let me express our appreciation for the prayers, Mass cards, condolences and words of compassion received after the sudden death of my mother. Jesus said that those who had given up their families for the sake of his name, would receive a hundred times more (Matthew 19:29). At this difficult time through your love and kindness—these words of Jesus received in my life very real and tangible meaning. Thank you and God bless you, Fr. Chris.

Thursday, December 18, 2008
The Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts sponsored by the parish (Pack and Troop 153) helped to celebrate a good Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa in your name, by collecting food at the Stop and Shop that was donated to a local food pantry, with guidance from the Rectory. Normally done as a good turn in February as we celebrate Scout Sunday, we added an extra collection to respond to the food emergency this year.

Monsignor's Letter, November 30, 2008
Friday, November 28, 2008
The new liturgical year begins this weekend with the Season of Advent. The green Mass vestments of Ordinary time give way to the rich purples of Advent. This season has a twofold character: as a season to prepare for Christmas, when Christ's first coming among us is remembered  and as a season when that remembrance directs the mind and heart to await Christ's second coming at the end of time. Advent is thus a period for devout and prayerful preparation. Let me state the various ways this preparation will take place at St. Anastasia.

Chris and myself. We have met twice since then and are now jointly hosting the screening of “Elisabeth of Berlin.” I hope you will attend and as usual show our hospitality and welcome to our friends and neighbors. Young Adults, this is your Mass!
Friday, March 28, 2008

youth4.pngWe are very happy, that our Sunday 5 PM Mass has recently increased in the number of younger people, both singles and couples who come to worship with us. We recognize their unique needs, busy lives and spirituality. That is why we would like to reach out to them in a very informal way by having little get-togethers by wine, soda and cheese after 5 PM Mass on first Sunday of the month, beginning on April 6. It is not a formal group that one has to sign up with. Rather, it will have a come-as-you-are attitude. We want you to feel welcome and comfortable. Make St. Anastasia your spiritual home.

Join us on April 6 after 5 PM Mass. For more information, contact Fr. Chris .

Pauline Year
June 28, 2008 - June 29, 2009
Glorious St Paul,
Most zealous Apostle,
Martyr for the love of Christ,
Give us a deep faith,
A steadfast hope,
A burning love for our Lord
So that we can proclaim with you
‘It is no longer I who live, but Christ
who lives in me.’
Help us to become apostles
Serving the Church with a pure heart
Witnesses to her truth and beauty
Amidst the darkness of our days.
With you we praise God our Father
‘To Him be the glory,
in the Church and in Christ
Now and for ever’.
Amen.
