Long Island Chapter Charity Drive
  • Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Annual Long Island Chapter Charity Drive.  The recipient of this year’s drive is Faith In The Future.
Father Helfentstein Award
  • Council #5911 made a donation to Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy on May 14, during Bingo Night, in honor of the late Father Helfenstein.  Father Helfenstein was a priest at St. Anastasia and instrumental in the forming of our Knights of Columbus Council #5911.

Membership Drive
  • If you or anyone you know is interested in joining our Council, come to the Annex on any Tuesday evening at 8:00PM or call August Randazzo, FS at 718-279-9096.  We will be happy to discuss the benefits of membership and explain what we do in our community.
Pray For
  • Our women and men in uniform, particularly those in harms way in Afghanistan and Iraq, Police Officers,  Firefighters, Customs and Border Protection Officers, Emergency Service Paramedics, and EMTs who risk life and limb for us on a daily basis.
  • Vocations to the priesthood.

St. Patrick’s/st. Joseph’s Day Party
You are cordially invited to attend our Council’s annual St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Party which will be held from 7 PM to 10 PM on Saturday, March 13, 2010, in the Annex.  Please contact chairman Martin Aversa, PGK, FDD at (718) 225-7027 or in the absence of Bill Fitzgerald, who is in Florida, contact Michael Proto, PGK at (718) 229-7751 to make reservations.  The cost is $20.00 per person.  As always, the menu will include corned beef and cabbage dinner, Irish soda bread, Italian pastries and our world famous Irish coffee!  Space is limited. Make your reservations early.  No reservations will be accepted after March 6, 2010.  See you there!

Knights Provide Aid To Haiti
Supreme Council has sent a contribution of $50,000 to Catholic Relief Services for the aid of the people of Haiti.

The Officers and Members of St. Anastasia Council #5911 Knights of Columbus wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy, Healthy New Year.

Thanksgiving Food Drive
The Assistant Director at Richmond Hill/Jamaica Outreach Program informed the Council Welfare Committee that they now support nearly 300 clients. Last year at this time, they had only 31 clients. Our complete Thanksgiving Turkey dinners were greatly appreciated. Our Welfare Committee, chaired by Brothers Martin Aversa, PGK, FDD, Joseph Stock, PGK, and William P. Fitzgerald, PGK, FDD thanks our members and friends for making this possible through their generous donations.


Christmas Presents for Kids
Council members who attended the Annual Christmas Party supplied approximately 60 gifts to the children in the Jamaica Outreach Program. Thanks to all members of Council #5911 for their generosity.

The winners of the 2009 Essay Contest were: Roisin Higgins (1st Place), Stefanie Wolfe (2nd Place), and Anastasia Gaspar (3rd Place). St. Anastasia Council #5911 presented Savings Bonds to each of the St. Anastasia Grammar School students. Congratulations to all!

Thank You Parishioners
St. Anastasia Council #5911 thanks all parishioners who donated to our Charity Drive to Help the Handicapped after Mass on Sept 19 and Sept 20. Your generosity is much appreciated.

New Recreation Room at St. Alban’s VA Hospital
St. Anastasia Council #5911 made a contribution to St. Albans VA Hospital to help them with improvements to their Recreation Room for wounded soldiers.

On behalf of the New York State Knights of Columbus, representatives of St. Anastasia Council #5911 presented the Knights of Columbus Eagle Scout Award to Ryan Matthew Furlong.  Congratulations Ryan.

Vocations
St. Anastasia Council #5911 made a donation to Cathedral Preparatory Seminary in order to assist students studying for the priesthood. 

Memorial Day Parade
All members of Council #5911 are invited to march in the Memorial Day Parade.  Members will meet at the Annex at 1:00PM.  The parade will begin at 2:00 PM.  Refreshments will be available for members and their family in the Annex.
 
Congratulations
Council #5911 finished in 3rd Place (out of 125 councils) in the Public Relations Award Competition. Congratulations to our PR Chairman Fred Bedell, PGK, on a job well done.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this year’s Long Island Chapter Charity Drive. The recipient of this year’s funds was Faith In The Future. This organization is the scholarship fund for the Brooklyn Diocese grammar schools.

Congratulations to our two newest members, William Klein and Joseph Giacoia. Both have completed their 1st Degree and 2nd Degree on April 1, 2009.
