Children in African orphanages do not stand much of a chance in life. You can be a lifeline. Operation Hearts and Home (a 5013C Charity) is headed to Ethiopia, February 17th to February 26th to work in Ethiopian orphanages with a group of volunteers from New York. They will assist both older and younger orphans . Nearly 1 in 5 New Yorkers are living in poverty, and according to a new report released last week –40% of all New Yorkers are purchasing less food in order to stretch food resources and money. The Society of St Vincent De Paul Gives Back! For each car, truck or van running or not, the Society of St. Vincent De Paul will give back to our church $50/$ 100 per vehicle. Maybe you don't have a vehicle, but a family member, friend or neighbor has an old or neglected vehicle in their driveway that they would like to dispose of. Pack 153 ended the year with their biggest Pack night to date! Our Tigers, Wolves and Bears earned their Wildlife Conservation Belt Loops at the APEC while the Webelos became "scientists" at the Science Museum of LI! Last year we explored Fort Totten, Garvies Point, Tanglewood Preserve, Alley Pond Adventure Course and went ice skating. Our Webelos embarked on a very special camping trip Thanksgiving weekend where they earned the Whittling Chip! Our adventures for 2011 include a "Camp-In" at the Liberty Science Center, an Overnight Encampment on the BattleShip New Jersey and 3 cabin camping trips!!
