St. Anastasia Religious Education
Abuse and Abduction Prevention Program
The Child Lures Program is being offered in both Catholic Schools and in Religious Education programs throughout the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens. The program is used to teach children to keep themselves safe from all predators who might harm them. There is a parent guide in English and Spanish available on the website along with further information and resources
Students who view the Child Lures Program will learn:
- Valuable life skills to help them recognize and avoid people, situations and decisions that threaten their personal safety.
- To recognize, trust and follow their instincts about people and situations.
- The personal boundaries that no one, not even a relative, should ever cross.
- Confidence in resisting those who attempt to lure them into dangerous situations or unhealthy behavior.
- How to report abuse or attempted abuse to trusted adults.
- The importance of reporting such incidents.
- How alcohol and other drugs threaten their personal safety, as well as their personal potential.
- Their own role and responsibility in helping to keep their school safe and violence-free.
Child Lures will be offered to students in grades K-7 during one of our Wednesday class. Mrs. Patti VanBuskirk will be presenting the program. We encourage all parents to obtain a Parent/Child manual along with other followup material ath the Child Lures Website.
