Scouting News!
The Scouting program for boys is a fun and exciting program at St. Anastasia. The upcoming year will prove to be a special one, since the Boy Scouts of America is marking its 100th Anniversary since first being chartered by the U.S. Congress.
We are proud of our parish sponsorship, and we are proud of the things we do in your name, like operating food drives, providing holiday cheer at the nursing home, participating in service projects to enhance our environment, learning about good citizenship, and the practice of our faith as we observe our Oaths.
The program is available to all boys in the community. The Cub Scout program is for boys in the first through fourth grades, and in the middle of the fifth grade, the boys gradu- ate into the Boy Scouts, which is for young men up to age 18. We meet on Sundays; the Boy Scouts meet in Father Smith Hall at 4:30 PM, and the Cub Scouts follow them and start their meeting at 6:30 PM. Joining information can be obtained by calling Tom McGlinchey, the Chartered Organization Representative, at (718) 224-9634. Come by and visit, see what we are doing!
KaBOOM!
A big Cub Scout event! Come see what we do. In order to show off how much fun the parish Cub Scout program can be, our Pack 153 will host a Play Day showing off Cub Scout activities, as well as the purpose of the KABOOM! organization in supporting children's play and the creation of play grounds. A Boy Scout recently did his Eagle Leadership Project in the his family's hometown in Russia, by building a playground there (see www.kaboom.org). Our own BIG EVENT will take place on Saturday, September 26th, from 10:00 AM to Noon in the School Parking Lot. All boys (first through fourth grades) interested in looking at Scouting as a family activity are invited to come with their parents or guardians (and the rest of the family if they wish). You will have the opportunity to make a small goodwill donation to support the aims of the Kaboom! organization and the Pack activities. Come have fun with us and see what Cub Scouts is about! Additional joining information about Cub Scouts (or Boy Scouts for boys up to age 18) can be obtained from our Scouting Representative.

The parish reaches out to the entire community by hosting Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Our Scout programs represent the parish as the sponsor of its community service activities, like food drives, nursing home visits, taking part in Memorial Day service and parade, helping with parish chores, etc. We foster character development and dedication to the central themes of God, nation, and local community. Our fun and exciting activities (including camping) are run over 12 months. Information about joining and summer time activities can be obtained by calling the parish representative,
