St. Anastasia Youth Ministries

Youth Group at Work

E-mail Print
For a few weeks now, St. Anastasia Youth Group has been working on the “Project Convent”, which is focused on the reconditioning  of the building on 245th Street and Northern Blvd. By the year’s end, the first floor should have a brand new look including new painting and floor. The fully functioning kitchen and nice warm colors, should make it a very cozy Parish Center. For an update on the work, go to www.matthew267.net .

eXtreme Youth

extremeyouth.pngAfter the December 2008 lock-in retreat, the St. Anastasia Youth Group has found a new identity and new vigor in experiencing it’s life and faith. Not only we see good and steady numbers of participants (16-34 a meeting), but also we have come closer as a group and matured as a small community.

We have welcomed 2009 with new excitement and fresh ideas. Besides having another lock-in and camping trip in the Spring, the group will undertake a few opportunities to reach out to the wider St. Anastasia community on a few occasions. Currently, we are working on the details, which we will provide as soon as they are ready.

At our meeting on January 4, we decided to experiment a new feature at the Youth Group. The regular monthly movie nights are moved from Sundays at 6 PM to a new time slot: 3—5 PM, leaving the 6 PM meeting intact. The new feature is called eXtreme Youth and will be taking place when it will fit our schedules. We will try it for the first time on Sunday, January 18, the day before Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which gives teenagers the time to do their homework before Tuesday. We hope to have some refreshments (pizza or sandwiches) while watching a movie and enjoying and spending the time together in a safe and caring environment. Of course, the Youth Center will be closed for the Eucharist between 5— 6 PM.

If you are an 8-grader through high  school, you can join us at any time. Find us at the Youth Center or online .

Young Adults, this is your Mass!

youth4.pngWe are very happy, that our Sunday 5 PM Mass has recently increased in the number of younger people, both singles and couples who come to worship with us. We recognize their unique needs, busy lives and spirituality. That is why we would like to reach out to them in a very informal way by having little get-togethers by wine, soda and cheese after 5 PM Mass on first Sunday of the month, beginning on April 6. It is not a formal group that one has to sign up with. Rather, it will have a come-as-you-are attitude. We want you to feel welcome and comfortable. Make St. Anastasia your spiritual home.

Join us on April 6 after 5 PM Mass. For more information, contact Fr. Chris .

About Our Logo:

Two circles with a dot at the center reflect a few crucial meanings: unity and togetherness of the group. The youth are focused on one goal; they make the effort to help one another as they are trying to reach the goal (target). Because it is uneasy and very confusing task, that is why these two circles remind of a labyrinth of life. The colors reflect these of the Youth Center. There are two letters embedded in the logotype: centrally located “Y” which stands for “youth” and “A” which stands for St. Anastasia.
