Basketball clinic is held from November through February on Tuesday evenings for 1 hour at Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston. This is an instructional clinic for boys and girls in Kindergarten to Second Grade. Children are taught basic basketball skills to prepare them for competitive play, which begins in third grade.
Team competition is offered through the CYO program for all boys and girls in grades 3 through 8. Boys and girls play on separate teams although girls are eligible to play on boy’s teams if they prefer. All children are eligible to play, assuming they meet the age requirements and there is room on a team. There are no try-outs. The girl’s season runs from mid-October through January, and the boy’s season runs from November through February.
Practices are one hour per week, generally on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday evenings. Times vary and are determined by the individual coach and gym availability. They are held either at Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston or PS 203 on Springfield Blvd. in Bayside or PS 186 on Little Neck Parkway in Glen Oaks.
Teams compete against CYO teams from other parishes. There is generally one game per week, although occasionally there could be two. All games are held on the weekends. Locations vary depending on the team that is being played. Home games are played at MS 67 on Marathon Parkway in Little Neck.
